Mine gas composition
The methane content of coalbed methane can be as high as 80% or more, while the methane content of mine gas depends on the amount of coalbed methane gushing out. The coalbed methane reserves of the old coal seams with deep metamorphism are generally rich, so the gushing volume is large, and the methane content of the mine gas produced is also high. For example, the mine gas composition of the Yangquan anthracite coal mine in Shanxi Province, China is generally about 41% methane, about 47% nitrogen, and about 12% oxygen, and its low-level calorific value is about 14-15 MJ/m3. If the pure methane emission is carried out by drilling holes in the coal seam, the original composition of the coal seam methane can be maintained. When mine gas is used as urban gas source, its methane content should not be less than 35%, and its low-level calorific value should not be less than 12.5 MJ/m3. Mine gas with low methane content can be used as fuel for other uses in the mining area.
